Many buyers compare LVDT and magnetostrictive sensors only by price. That is incomplete. The real comparison must include stroke, output, non contact measurement, controller signal, mounting, environment, cable route and long term availability. A good plant does not wait until the sensor fully fails. It reads symptoms early and collects the right data before replacement.

Why this matters in Bangladesh plants

Many Bangladesh industrial sites operate with mixed old and new systems. One machine may have older MTS reference, another may use a newer Temposonics model, and the control panel may require a specific signal type. When the buyer sends only one photo, the supplier can easily quote an incomplete or wrong item.

The correct path is to collect model, stroke length, output, mounting type, connector, cable length, environment, approval and controller signal. These fields reduce rework, wrong import, wrong installation and emergency downtime.

What engineers should check first

• Full model code and old nameplate photo.
• Stroke length or measurement range.
• Output signal required by PLC or DCS.
• Mechanical mounting, magnet and connector arrangement.
• Hazardous area, IP rating, temperature and vibration conditions.

What procurement should ask

Procurement should not only ask for best price. They should ask for technical compliance, equivalent model basis, origin, lead time, warranty, datasheet, certificate, mounting accessories and any exclusion. If the old model is obsolete, ask for a written replacement logic instead of assuming direct interchangeability.
